Building with Ryan Homes

Well, at the end of week 5, I will say this. We have really enjoyed this process so much. It is very exciting, yet nerve-wracking at the same time. The Project Manager, Jake - awesome. He doesn't miss anything on those plans. Everything has been well organized and moving exactly on schedule.

The only minor problems we ran into were framing related - a little hole here, a little bow there.  NO complaints here!! How can we complain when we are 5 weeks in and the process has been seamless?!

I was a little leary, because there has been some negative press around Ryan Homes (as with ANY builder really) - but they have been great. Any concern we've had, it's been addressed and remedied right away.

We are almost half way :-)

Now I am definitely at the point where I am starting to second guess some of my selections.

1. We definitely should have done the railing in the formal living room, instead of the capped wall.
2. I wish we would have done the jet garden tub.... but glad I did the garden tub! I also wish I would have done tile upgrades in the bathroom. We did a tile floor, but no tile around the tub and shower - total bummer!!
3. I am not certain on the white cabinets we selected for the bathrooms. I like the nice clean look, but the tan cabinets look beautiful!! Jason loves the white cabinets though, so I let him pick.  I'll just have to wait and see :-)
4. Windows! People, listen - do the extra windows!!!  It's still bright in our home, but the extra windows would've been better. We only have two in our master..... We should have gone for a 3. I want the extra window in the formal living room also..... I want the extra window in the family room.  And it would be sooooo nice to have some windows in the basement.  It's very dark down there.  Well I guess it is a man cave.
5. We need a bonus room - or 5th bedroom. Considering a bedroom in the basement furthr down the road.

I guess that's in. What I am thankful for, we did the 3rd car garage, we did the morning room, we did the finished basement, and I absolutely LOVE our lot.

  1. We actually feel the same way about the windows. We didn't get the morning room so we moved the side window in the master to be on the same wall as the window by the mastercloset. Now we wish we would have just added a third window.
Also in the bedroom with the little window (that doesn't open - this irks me too), we removed the window on the side wall so we would have had a clean wall without having to arrange furniture around a window. I am not bothered by that room as much as I am the Master.

We have such a great breeze that I wish I had more windows just to let all the fresh air in.
